Students attend 40-hours of classroom training covering such subjects as DOT, logbooks, defensive driving and job search techniques. Also, Western Truck School has become the first school in the State of California to use a television-based, self-documenting safety training system for heavy truck drivers.
The system does the following:
•Increases safety awareness; •Provides legal documentation of safety training; and, •Fulfills requirements for government mandated training.
Interactive television with full-screen video and animation, graphics, photography, narration, and interactivity makes learning easier, faster and more effective. The system was designed for use as both self-paced, individualized learning, and as classroom instruction. The system has been voted "Best Vocational Training Program of 1996" by the International CD-Interactive Association.
