We are often asked what sets us apart from other truck driving schools. It seems important that since you are being a responsible consumer and looking at school options, you should ask this same question: "What does set IITR apart from other truck driving schools?" We believe the following:
Accreditation IITR is the only nationally accredited truck school in Oregon and Washington and has been continually accredited since 1987. IITR is accredited just like colleges and universities that are accredited by regional accrediting commissions. Our accrediting agency is ACCET, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training. ACCET is located in Washington D.C. and is a national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. It should be noted that all schools in Oregon are required to be licensed by the state, but accreditation is not mandatory. Many schools will not incur the expense nor undergo the scrunity of the initial accreditation process and the ongoing monitoring required. IITR strongly believes in accreditation to assure quality programs and strict adherence to the eight standards of accreditation.
The essential purpose of the accreditation process is to provide a professional judgment as to the QUALITY OF THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND THE PROGRAM(S) offered, and to encourage continual improvement thereof. Accreditation is the process by which the ACCET Accrediting Commission grants public recognition to organizations that offer quality continuing education and training programs and meet all of the standards set forth by ACCET. ACCET's function is focused upon educational practices and assistance to member institutions in the improvement of these practices within their organizations.
